Spectre e-Learning – Learn from the Best in the Game

From YouTube to the classroom.

A structured e-learning suite for bowlers, aspiring pro shop operators, and certified instructors. Built from the same instructional foundation that made our YouTube channel a trusted resource for bowlers and pro shops worldwide.

The Spectre Cloud Pro Shop Software YouTube channel has built a strong following over the years thanks to our how-to videos. That traction led to a wave of requests asking us to teach our class outside of our home pro shop — and we’ve done it, in multiple venues, to packed rooms.

That demand became the foundation for Spectre Academy: a full e-learning suite of classes tailored to bowlers of every level, from someone picking up a ball for the first time to a pro shop operator pursuing IBPSIA certification.

How the classes work

  • Structured curriculum. Every class features presentations, videos, and quizzes — designed to teach, not just inform.

  • Progressive unlock. Some classes require passing a final exam before the next one becomes available, so you build real knowledge before moving on.

  • Test out if you already know the material. Have prior knowledge? Some classes can be bypassed by passing a placement quiz, so experienced students don’t waste time on the basics.

  • Path to IBPSIA certification. The Bowler 201, Bowler 301, and Pro Shop 101 sequence forms the foundation of the Spectre pro shop certification track, with the final test out process submitted directly to IBPSIA.

The Class Catalog

Bowler 101 — Welcome to Bowling

A class built for the non-bowler. A great introduction to the game of bowling, its lingo, and all its secrets. Bowler 101 is also an excellent fit for youth programs, helping new and current bowlers understand the landscape of the lane and the ball itself.

  • Best for: First-time bowlers, youth programs, anyone new to the game.

  • Format: Presentations, videos, and quizzes.

  • Tools required: None.

Bowler 201 — Theory, Equipment, and the Lane

A deeper technical dive into the equipment and the lane itself. Bowler 201 covers the theory behind ball dynamics, how to read and understand lane graphs, and what’s actually happening on the surface you’re throwing on. No tools are required, but the knowledge here forms the backbone of everything that comes after.

  • Best for: League bowlers, tournament players, and anyone starting the pro shop certification path.

  • Format: Presentations, videos, and quizzes. Final exam required.

  • Tools required: None.

  • Certification: First required class for the Spectre pro shop certification track.

Bowler 301 — Equipment, Layouts, and Arsenal Building

This is where things get hands-on. Bowler 301 covers equipment in depth, layout selection, how to identify a bowler’s style, how to build an arsenal that actually works, and the physical game knowledge that ties it all together. Students will need access to some basic tools to follow along.

  • Best for: Serious competitive bowlers and pro shop students.

  • Format: Presentations, videos, and quizzes. Final exam required.

  • Tools required: Basic measurement and layout tools.

  • Certification: Second required class for the Spectre pro shop certification track.

Pro Shop 101 — Let’s Make Some Dust

The final class in the certification track, and the one where everything you’ve learned comes together at the milling machine. Pro Shop 101 requires access to a full pro shop — milling mach
